(Please contact your local office for more information). For state government purposes, there may be other requirements. For more information about income tax, contact your state tax commissioner. If you are an employee of the state of Maine and you have completed all required IRS Form W-9 from the state and submitted to Maine for your employer and all dependent dependents, you may be eligible for a federal unemployment compensation or worker's compensation benefit. (Include the I-968, W-2 form, and the federal W-2 to submit.) If you are not eligible for federal unemployment insurance, worker's compensation or a similar benefit from the state of Maine, you may be eligible for a cash benefit from the Maine Department of Labor. If you are a dependent of a Maine resident who has been laid-off, lost an income-producing job or received a pay cut below the federal poverty level, you may be eligible for unemployment compensation. (Please contact your local commissioner's office for more information). In 2018, employers throughout Maine will have the opportunity to receive federal unemployment benefits for each full-time employee who is employed with them. The federal unemployment benefit is up to 99.8% of federal unemployment insurance payments (up to 300 per week) made to someone receiving unemployment benefits from the state of Maine. You are not required to notify the Unemployment Office of any change in your situation. You do not need to submit any additional forms (e.g., W-2s, pay stubs). Also, Maine Unemployment employees may contact you at any time to check your benefits if you are ineligible or not receiving any benefits.
