You must go to county and state office and apply for a vote by mail ballot to be mailed to you by November 11th. Once you receive the vote by mail ballot you will vote by mail. Other Elections In California There are other elections that you should be aware of. The November election is for California Senate, Assembly, countywide offices and statewide offices. How To Vote In California • You can: 1) Mail in or drop off your ballot. 2) Preregister to vote in-person in the county/county clerk of your city, or an election board office in the county. You cannot preregister online. 3) Vote on Election Day in person in an area where you currently live. • No Election Day can be in a County where you live or will be moving in the near future, unless you choose one of the following options. If you will be moving, you might want to vote on the following day — Election Day or Election Day by Mail. If you choose the Election Day by Mail option, you may vote in your polling place on Election Day. After Election Day, you can drop off your completed ballot to count it at any precinct. If you choose to vote by Preregister to Vote online, you must have had your photo ID (i.e. passport, driver's license, or ID card) in your possession the day you enrolled in the voter registration system.
